Halloweentime at Disneyland & Oogie Boogie Bash Review

Oogie Boogie Bash, in my opinion, is a huge improvement over Mickey's Halloween Party. There were so many great experiences such as rare character meet and greets, a longer parade route, immersive treat trails, and the highly lauded Villain's Grove.

A few days before the first party, I heard the Haunted Mansion ghosts were out meeting, so I went to check this out. I had Sally and Constance already, but needed Ezra, Phineas, and Gus.

I started out with a basic Mickey Pumpkin pic.

Followed by meeting Jack and Sally.

Sally Slater came out first for the ghosts, so I got to meet her again!

And finally, 3 new ghost friends :)

I'm not sure if this was only for the 50th anniversary of Haunted Mansion, but I hope they do this again next year!

Now, onto the main event - Oogie Boogie Bash!

For my first party, September 24th, I got to the park at 2:30PM, checked in, and went straight to get in line for Kingdom Hearts Donald. In retrospect, this wasn't necessary as the line died down substantially later in the night.

Donald looked adorable! After meeting him, I headed over to meet Ron Stoppable (Kim was out on a mission) with literally NO wait!

He was rotating with Phineas and Ferb. They didn't have a special overlay so I didn't bother meeting them as I already had their standard overlay from Long Lost Friends at MK.

Next, I headed over to the villains meet, as Shan Yu had been there at previous parties. I ended up getting to the front right in time for the switch over from animal villains to human villains. First up was Frollo.

I finally got a Photopass picture with him, which was cool. Same deal with Ratcliffe!

Finally, I met my (only) new character - Shan Yu!

He was seriously intimidating. I was bummed to find out he wasn't signing autographs as his hands were "frozen" from that pesky avalanche Mulan caused.

At this point, it was about 6:45PM. It was almost time for the Blue Fairy & Pinocchio's first set, so I set out for the Classic Friends meet at the Carthay Circle fountain.

She is seriously rare so I was happy to get a Photopass picture with her in addition to the popup meet last summer.

I then decided to head over to the Disney Afternoon meet and greets by Soarin'. First up was Don Karnage, who very few people wanted to meet surprisingly!

These characters were switching out on the half hour, so I just queued back up 20 minutes later to get "Talespin" Baloo!

He had a relatively short line as well. I queued up ten minutes later for Chip & Dale, whose line formed quite a bit earlier than the others.

They're always so cute as Rescue Rangers!

After this, I headed over to get Kingdom Hearts Goofy. I waited 20 minutes for him total, which is why I say no need to waste your pre-party time.

After this, I headed over to my longest line of the night - Mickey & Minnie. However, even this was only half an hour or less.

I had a little time to kill, so I decided to just get Snow and Dopey as well, considering they had little to no line.

I finished everything I set out to do by 10PM. Even if I'd chosen not to wait for Donald early in the party, I probably could have finished around the same time. However, I didn't do any of the entertainment offerings. That was saved for the following party.

My next party, I got there around 2PM and had a delicious late lunch with my cousin at Lamplighter Lounge before doing some attractions and character meets. We headed to Cars Land first, where we did Luigi's Honking Haul-O-Ween, then met two of the Cars in their Halloween overlays.

First was Cruz dressed as a pirate! And then, Dracula Mater!

After this, we went on Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, which I really enjoyed. Then, we quickly met Miguel before the party started.

It seems I didn't have to go especially for the AP meet!

About ten minutes before the party started, we joined the villains line and were only the third party there. There seemed to be a problem with Photopass, since only Prince John had it. However, we got to meet...

The Sheriff of Nottingham...

Big Bad Wolf...

And Prince John!

We wanted to try to get Kim and Ron before their set finished, and ended up being the last party to meet them that set!

I told Ron I'd met and gotten a solo pic with him and would like one with Kim, and he was so EXTRA about it lol.

Then, we decided to check out the main treat trail we were interested in - the one with live action Mad Hatter! It was fairly underwhelming, except for the Hatter himself. He was awesome, cracking jokes and getting the audience to participate. After this, we met Star Lord!

He twirled me a couple of times :)

Then, it was time to watch the parade! I enjoyed the addition of Cheshire Cat this year, but it was sad he didn't meet his fans at the party.

Then, after the parade, we met Star Lord and Gamora.

I kicked him out of the picture so I could get one with just her.

This was our last character meet of the night. We decided to check out the Villain's Grove queue, which CMs said was half an hour. However, we waited only ten minutes. It was a cool walk-through for sure, but I wouldn't wait any more than twenty minutes for it.

I'm hoping Villainous returns next year as that's the only party exclusive entertainment offering I missed :)
